FIJIan ARTistry

During festive occasions, Fijians have a wonderFUL tradition of making colorFUL salusalus, or garlands, made with flowers and leaves found around their gardens in the village.

Below are the beautiFUL necklaces created by the moms or aunts and sisters of those graduating at Naselesele Primary School.

Jotama -- with his salusalu from Nana Ana, made with the flowers from her garden...

Lidia -- her necklace captured Fiji's tropical colors...

Salote's kindergarten youngster, with his mom's unique creation...

This little gal was beautifully decorated with her mom's patient and loving artistry.

Her sweet demeanor balances a very strong-minded personality...

Filomena -- sweet and shy, wonderfully decked out with her colorFUL salusalu...

Maria -- her very traditional salusalu did not wilt...made a great souvenir!

Rosalia and Pasemaca -- passed 8th grade and went on to secondary school...

Joana and Elena -- who entertained us with a dance...

Karen -- shining her delightFUL smile...

Police Commissioner Naivalurua -- Naselesele Village's very own...
Flowers are an integral part of the lives of islanders...and what could better decorate and beautify our children and our homes than GOD's very own sublime creation?

Then GOD said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds."  And it was so.

The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with see in it according to their kinds.  And GOD saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:11-12)

P.S. i am again raising funds for the Naselesele Village school children in Taveuni, Fiji. Your charitable donation of any amount is deeply and heartfully appreciated! GOD bless your loving heart!
